Text-Only Version

We were given the honor to sit down with Jakoby Smith, Founder & Artistic Director of Unitimacy, LLC – a game & art company with a name formed by combining the words Unity and Intimacy – launched in 2021 due to a deep love of expression and artistic exploration.

Unitimacy is owned and operated by a team of two; Jakoby and his business partner, Jesse Mcmann. These two leaders started with a somewhat random desire to create a game that anyone could win without having to plan 3-5 turns ahead like traditional games (i.e. chess), and when combined with their creative nature and a shared love for playing card games, the project officially began.

Jakoby shared with us that his mission doesn’t involve making money. Instead, the focus is to help create opportunities and environments where people can be open with each other and form lasting bonds, whether it be between family members or complete strangers; it’s about facilitating natural and authentic connections.

“All the artwork seen is created by me,” Jakoby stated, “The passion is seen and felt through the artwork.” On a more personal level, Jakoby added, “The fact that I can create something, expressing my creative nature, and share it with others in a tangible and interactive way, gives me all the push and motivation. Also, it’s my escape and keeps me healthy, mentally.” Using his very own creativity and sharing it with the world in the form of a game that anyone can enjoy and form lasting bonds through – without doing it for the money – is something anyone and everyone can admire and respect, which is precisely why we felt his company deserved some time in the spotlight.

Unitimacy has two games currently on the market, with another one on the way this year. Their game titled “Kingdom Come” is by far the most popular game they’ve created to date, and is available for purchase at local pop-up shops and vendor markets in Austin, Texas.

Jakoby shared his favorite quote with us – one that he says is somewhat of a principal he lives by – “Laughter is the best medicine, because it’s free and it works.” ~ Unknown

Unitimacy is just getting started…so stay tuned!
